Heidelberg, Germany From 27 July to 9 August 2025, four students from Paragon International University’s Computer Science Department had the opportunity to join the “Sustainability and AI – A Cross-Cultural Partnership for Improving Education and Environmental Management” program in Heidelberg, Germany. The students, Mr. Vansing Sun, Mr. Yinchhay Im, Mr. Rithrolendo Ouk, and Mr. Neaksen Yeang, were coordinated by Mrs. Sheue Li Ng, the university’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs. The program’s purpose was to focus on Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and Cultural Exchange, with financial support provided by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung programme. Paragon International University was invited to the program by Dr. Enis Yazici, a Project Coordinator from SRH University of Applied Sciences, Heidelberg.

A Focus on Innovation and Skill Development

During their time in Germany, the students engaged in scientific workshops, university visits, and intercultural exchange sessions. They delved into main topics of discussion, including Climate Change and Environmental Science, Quantum Computing and Emerging Technologies, and Embedded Systems for Sustainability. The group discussions and brainstorming sessions led to the formulation of Sustainability-AI international project, a collaborative initiative between SRH University, Paragon International University, and the University of Central Asia.

The students were able to exchange innovative ideas on how AI can be used to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices. These sessions also strengthened the students’ skills in AI and empowered them to design AI-driven solutions for sustainability within their own communities.

Mrs. Sheue Li Ng, the university’s Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, perfectly summed up the impact of the program: “This program provided our students with significant academic, professional, and personal
benefits. Academically, they gained exposure to advanced topics such as Artificial Intelligence,
Sustainability, Quantum Computing, and Emerging Technologies. Professionally, they developed
valuable skills in teamwork, problem-solving on site, and cross-cultural collaboration through
workshops and group projects. On a personal level, the intercultural exchange and international
environment broadened their perspectives, strengthened their confidence, and prepared them to
engage more effectively in global academic and professional contexts.”

The collaboration is set to continue, offering more opportunities for Paragon students. SRH University has invited Paragon International University to nominate a student for a three-month scholarship. Additionally, the “Sustainability and AI” project is expected to continue for one to two years.
